16.5 Week Skilled Construction Craft Laborer Program

This custom training offering consists of a 16.5 week course introducing participants to the eight (8) Core Work Skills Processes as identified by the New York Department of Labor for  Skilled Construction Craft Laborers.

Program developed to train area residents for entry into apprenticeship programs or for immediate employment in the construction industry.

Instruction will be presented in two (2) parts, classroom theory and hands on shop. The program will be conducted in a five (5) hours per day (one (1) hour of class and four (4) hours of shop) five (5) days a week format.

The instruction is designed to challenge the student's ability and commitment (work ethic), not to train to proficiency in any given trade.

Participant Requirements

All instruction is designed to "mimic" real work conditions, with real work accountability:

  • Participants are expected to punch in (using a time clock) on time everyday

  • Participants are expected to maintain strict attendance, absenteeism is recorded

  • Participants are expected to report to the program unimpaired and ready to work in a safe manner.

  • Participants will be evaluated on their performance in the the program.
